My site is the rooftop of a building in downtown Manhattan(gold street).

The main idea is to incorporate the reflection of the elements on the rooftop into the view which gives a feeling of surrealness and dream.
Also the idea that a view can seem still but when you look closer there is movement and many things happening.
What most interests me is the juxtaposition of things, when the reflection of the ramp becomes incorporated into
the building, the ramp becomes just a shape made out of different elements intead of just steel.
Or when it becomes part of the horizon and is reflected in the sky. This creates structure within a landscape.
At night the trees are reflected into the view with all the lights of the buildings, they look like they are hanging from the sky, this gives a feeling of surrealness and imagination which ties with the idea of a dream.
A very interesting aspect is also the way views can be framed, looking out the window of the ramp without showing the struture, makes the view confusing
and hard to understand and the overlap of things looks fake, however, when the view is taken showing the context and the struture then the secret is revealed.

In a way it relates to Mary Miss’s installation, you can experience the struture diffently from every angle ,however when you get to the right frame you can see the overlap of the voids in the bilboards and see the sunrise. What becomes my main focus now is the way things can reflect on each other and create different effects as well as the juxtaposition and the overlap of
these elements which can generate different conditions.

The idea of framing scenes also relates to Tarkovsky’s technique of taking stills which are framed in a specific way in order to create a painting like images. His way of framing and filming certain elements also give a feeling of
surrealness and estrangements. He also uses tress and clouds as very powerful elements.
Tarkovsky also uses the technique of mirroring a lot which influenced me in my film, I tried to pick up the elements
that were mirrored onto the facades of the buildings as well as the ones onto the reflecting glass wall of the rooftop.
