notes for liz

-you have a strong thesis and strong tectonic relation to thesis
-you're rushing into too complex of a building
-diagrams of building should relate to circulation = shopping
-you've got the idea of maze and idea of worms eye view vs god's eye view. you need both to stop from feeling claustrophobic
-sectional diagrams
-use of maze is important
-set up clear diagram of qualities of space and what you shop for there
-map out and build systematically - create clarity
-optimal shopping+optimal experience - then layout tectonics for that
-hoe does material, space, and light relate or help experience in relation to your thesis
-diagrams of organization and experience
-focus on syhestretic experience
-knowing where you are vs. being lost in the experience
-may create smaller chopping experience and add on according to the tectonics
-maybe posibility of moving walls to create larger space at different times, ex. fish come in on monday so expand walls
-idea of module
-barcelona, mercato: acts as a supermarket & outdoor eating area
-bringing farmers market into supermarket: think of different scales of the two
-contrast of freshness

i think the idea of making diagrams would make sense. i think that may clear up why i made some of the moves i made. so i think i want to do that for monday.
then i was thinking of the contrast of the farmers market vs the supermarket. i feel i need to work on the contrast between the two much more. i started by thinking of this indoor-outdoor play with the produce. this should be carried out to other sections the farmers market falls under. however, thinking about it, i don't think i like the idea of the moveable walls. my project has always been about blurring the boundary and the maze. moving walls doesn't blur the boundary, but completely changes it. i think it may make more sense to have the farmer market areas flow into each other. for example, one day, the fish market comes it. suddenly, that area is fill of ice and fish smells and yelling and fish being thrown around (i never picture a fish market as a quiet place). however, the next day you come in and the produce market is there. suddenly, there are these bright colors everywhere and it smells fruity and fresh. the same space is used for different things. on the produce day, you may see some remains from the fish market (maybe seashells left from a couple clams??) you start realizing that this place is used for both, blurring the use of the space. i think by just using moveable walls, its a cop out.

for monday, im going to do those diagrams for circulation. im also going to figure out that blurring area im talking about. this area will be drawn up or done in model. i think drawing will be the easiest way to figure this out, though. i also want to work on my final site model (ideally have it finished, but ill have cut sheets done and hopefully have it cut)
