Here are some more images of the theater. Not totally done yet, but on its way.

i wouldnt have tapered your ceiling equally in both directions...it made sense to keep the diection of the bow strong with the axis along which you pulled out the middle.
you know hwat i mean...if not i will try again...
maybe i am wrong...but it seemed like a clearer gesture...
remember as you talked about gestures and the actor...

maybe its just my computer screen, but it looks like your 3d max camera might need a flash...

Otherwise the renderings are starting to look pretty good.

I was thinking of the ceiling as a kind of curtain, supported on the edges and sinking somewhat in the middle

then i believe you need to construct as a space frame...
you cant skinny up the trusses down at the ends like that...they are still spanning the same distance as the big guys in the middle...
you are thinking about it graphically...think about it structurally.
it could make the form you desire and be an expression of the stresses at certain points...deeper in the middle...but i believe you need to tie it all togehter...and it could be lighter too...
with that said...you already invested in these trusses...you can simplify if the roof curves in only one direction...
keep moving and try to get back to this later...

i told you to keep it simple in the first place.
those trusses are not at all believeable.
and i am not sold on the formal expression 100%...although it would bounce sound into the sides of the theater...i dont think it would be terribly effective at that height and with such a minimal curve...
am i gettin thru here?
