thanks, i actually saw it awhile ago; i don't know if the area is as forgotten as that website would hope. although it seems like the history of the area is often ignored, certainly the park has heavy use (even if it is mostly sports-related). i happened to go to a lecture recently from this artist that directed events at the queens museum of art and she claimed it was the second most visited park in new york (central park obviously the first). hmm.

Either way, the forgotten-ny article shows an impression of the park from someone who goes there. I think the figure that it is the second most visited park is probably heavily swayed by the inclusion of the stadium into that figure. I've been there a few times, in the parts of the park not immediately adjacent the stadium, and those times it was an almost surreal wasteland, which is also somewhat apparanent in the site photos you chose to show us.
