Metaphor

these are the prints I had for the analysis. "depth of field" is an ideal of my metaphor.
I need to refine it. I couldn't decide my site yet, but I'm planning to go check out Roosevelt Island tomorrow and do some pictures, videos.. I'm looking for a place where low rise buildings frame my view, but not so dense that buildings form a wall.

i am trying to understand what you mean by volume of vision in your analytical section.

I was thinking that depth of field is ok because it is saying the range or space of what we see (field) as a volumetric object.
volume of vision is..
since the linear movements are going through "gates" or doors.(gates in the art installation, and doors in the film) the range of vision (what is seen within the frame or gate) grows as one goes closer to the gate. there is a premise, that these gates are causing one's focus to be what is in the gate. therefore if one is walking towards a gate one can see more as they go closer to the gate; as one passes the gate one sees the whole room and immediately the focus shifts to what is inside the next gate. I simply saw the vision field as volume. I guess I wasn't rigorous enough with finding a metaphor to show this idea. I will find a new one from the book. thank you
