table update
The table top is %100 complete. The metal frame is 100% fabricated. They are not yet joined. The plan was to blacken the metal frame, though as I discovered today as i began this process, is that this is basically beyond the realm of possibility for saturday. So the plan is assemble the table for the review with the un-blackened frame, and then blacken it for my welding class later.

projector
One of us needs to OKed with the media lab to take out the projector... for Friday (and maybe saturday)
woops...
sorry marc i've shut myself out from the internet except to check email and news... totally forgot to take a look at the blog from time to time. here are the renderings i've done so far. for the more recent ones, i've been trying to make limited use of color to highlight different interactions/spaces

So I won the battle with the butterfly keys. For some reason the slot for the last one (closest to the floor in photograph) ended up being slightly assymetrical which made it absurdly difficult to get right. Anyway, here are a couple of shots of the mostly completed table top. Tomorrow when the glue is fully dried i will cut the keys flush, route a couple mounting slots into the bottom, and then oil it. The metal part is also mostly completed as of this morning, but the pictures of that are on a different camera and I dont seem to have the right hardware on hand to get them on my computer.

Is anyone else having trouble uploading images? I'm clicking on the icon but not getting any response.
Is there another way to insert an image?

presentation...big
please keep in mind that your color color drawings need to be plotted big.
and you may need to blow up sketches or hand drawings.
think ahead to your presentation and make sure plotting doesnt become an excuse...

you should 'stage' a series of photographs with the full scale model...
how the bodies and the cabinets perform

The metal part of the table is about 80% done. Here are a couple of pictures of it.
I am declaring the 1/2"=1'-0" detail model finished, so I am close to being on schedule. Early next week I will begin writing narrative and beginning to prepare my presentation and will probably need some input on that.

Morgan Library
Here are some of photos from the Morgan Library where ideas of a secondary skin, spaces that hang and a structure emerging from below are all present.
For all those who would like to visit the Library, they have free admission during slected hours on Tuesdays and Fridays. Just be careful with a camera, security was on my case for taking photos.

Schedule
April 16, 2007
Below is the inventory for what I want to have for final. I had wanted to build an updated 1/8”=1’-0” model, but I think my time would be better spent drawing additional perspectives. They will convey the experience better than a model and can also represent the changes made in the design since the last model was built.
To have for Final:
Early Research/Synaesthetic Memory Map/ Full scale detail (from last semester) – 100%
Early collage drawings of site and sectional relationships (2) – 100%
Early model at 1/8”=1’-0” – 100%
Site Plan – 100%
Building Plans and sections (untouched since midterm) – 100%
1/2"=1’-0” Detail model – 80% complete. 12-15 hours to complete.
Full scale (nightclub coffee table) 40% complete. 20-24 hours to complete
Perspectives. 4 Completed as of now. Create as many more as time allows.
Narrative. 0% complete. 10 Hours.
Schedule
April 16
Work on 1/2"=1’-0” detail model.
April 17
Finish 1/2"=1’-0” detail model.
April 18
Work on coffee table.
April 19
Work on coffee table
April 20
Have coffee table finished. Begin narrative with completed perspectives.
April 21-27
Work on perspectives and narrative.
I can average out to about 12 hours of real work a day, probably closer to 14 when I don’t have class in the final week, which gives me 120 hours of work. I plan to use all of them.
